No takers . . .

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

So I'm beginning to think that everyone who used to read this blog has been taken up in the rapture. I threw out a challenge a few days ago to get 10 questions that people would want me to answer and to this date NO TAKERS!!!! Maybe people just don't want to know about me. Well anyway, if you have a question please go here and leave it as a comment. Thanks.

10 Questions . . .

Monday, November 17, 2008

Okay so I'm stealing this from some people and may not even get enough to answer but 10 people did comment a few posts ago when I asked how many people really read my blog. Well if you want to get to know the blogger, me, better. Post a question in the comments and when I get 10 I'll answer them.

Get it? Got it? GOOD!!

Until then . . .

Amazed!!!

Amazed... that's what I am. There are many things that I've been amazed with lately:

1. How amazing it is to be a father of two beautiful girls and married to an absolutely amazing, and HOT, wife. Can it be tiring, sure, but I wouldn't trade it for the world!

2. The power of prayer. The last few weeks we've been praying Large at NMC. The things that we've heard, the way it impacts and changes lives, cultures, families.

3. The power of God's healing. Some of you may have read some of my latest posts about Kortney Armentrout who was in my ministry. She was once in the 30% chance to live category and now she is on the amazing road to healing and recovering. God is amazing!!

4. The fact that it is snowing currently! I somewhat love it and somewhat hate it but none the less I'm amazed.

There are many more things that amaze me. Things that I'm amazed God can do!! I shouldn't be surprised that He can do these things but I thinks it's pretty cool when God shows off a little. These were just a few.

For my faithful readers . . . what about you? What are you amazed by? Are you simply amazed that Chris Lehane has continued to blog? Share with me by leaving a comment.

Update on Kortney

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

Hey everyone. Wanted to update you on Kortney's condition.
Kortney was flown to the hospital at U of M in Ann Arbor, Michigan. All of her immediate family and several friends are there with her now. She is still in critical condition in the ICU. The flight there was a very critical time but it sounded like other than one instance on the way there with her blood pressure dropping but then stabilizing, all went well.

I'd encourage you to go to the following site for more information. Please go to Kortney's guestbook and leave her some special notes, encouragement and prayers. She and her family would appreciate your prayers during this critical time. http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/kortneyarmentrout1

Please Pray for Kortney

To all those that read my blog I'd ask that you pray for Kortney Armentrout pictured here with me. She is a Bethel college student, a former student of mine but more importantly she is a great friend of mine.
About a week ago she got sick kind of out of the blue. She went to the doctor and they gave her some medication and sent her home. A few days later it was still worse and so they sent her to the hospital. Things have continued to escalate. She has pneumonia in both lungs, the worst possible from what the doctors have told the family. She also has an infection in her jaw and throat and they found out yesterday she has a bacterial infection in her bloodstream.
I sat down with Wade and Kelli for a little bit yesterday and got an update from them. They both could use prayer for strength, guidance, wisdom and rest.
Overnight, Kortney's blood pressure started getting worse.
The biggest thing that I and the family would ask for those who know or don't know Kortney right now is to PRAY!!
Thanks.

Movie Review

Monday, November 10, 2008

Rose and I haven't really gotten to see a new movie in quite some time. We subscribe to Netflix so we're behind the curve on many of the new movies that are out there. We finally got "The Happening" by M. Night Shyamalan.

We both had big hopes for this movie. We put the kids to bed and sat down to try to watch it together. Rose dozed in and out of sleep, not because of the movie but because she was pretty tired. I have to say that within 10 minutes you are just in shock at some of the events.

Overall though I'd have to say that Rose and I weren't super impressed. Rose thought that Mark Wahlberg needed to do a way better job at crying and making it look real. I personally didn't think the ending was all that impressive. You go from the beginning being fairly shocked to the end where it is all nice and pretty with the ending beginning things all over again. Some of you may disagree with me which is fine. We all have different tastes.

If I were going to give it a grade though I'd say: B -

Until the next movie review . . . feel free to give me your feedback.

Cool evening last night

Last night was a pretty awesome night here at NMC. We've started a series on Sunday mornings called Pray LaRGe or Pray LRG. We want to take time to pray locally, regionally and globally. Pastor Dave has had some people share about prayer and what it means to them but also about the power of prayer.

This past Sunday Pastor Dave had a special guest from India, Satyendra Basumata, who isn't a pastor but works for the telephone company I believe. However, in India we see a different type of Christianity. It's all or nothing there . . . and when I say that I mean you either are or you aren't. There's no half way. As a matter of fact, Pastor Dave showed some intense images of people who's homes have been burnt to the ground, they've been burned or even a gruesome picture of a child who was burned to death and left for dead. They are truly being persecuted to the point of death for their faith. How much do we need to learn as Christians today in America from people that do that?

So last night we spent time praying locally and from 5-7:30 pm the doors of NMC were open as we had an open house of prayer. Derry Prenkert spent tons of time getting things in place for the night so that people could pray specifically for the many ministries that go on inside and outside of these walls. People prayed in the rooms where ministries take place and even in our individual offices. Can I say that it was touching and moving to know that so many people are praying for you. I don't believe this series will be the end of our praying large at NMC, I think this is the beginning of a significant church-wide prayer movement. I'm praying that God helps us at NMC to get radical in the way we live as Christians . . . to the point of our friends being persecuted in India. And I pray it doesn't just stay at NMC but to churches nationwide. We desperately need the moving of our Father, His son and the Holy Spirit.
