Me and Gerry Dee . . .

Thursday, September 20, 2007

So, me and my buddies Andy and Tim were just finishing our lunch at the LAX airport's California Pizza Kitchen when as we're walking out I thought I saw one of the comics from the TV show "The Last Comic Standing". Doing what I sometimes will do, I questioned myself and said "No way that's not him but it really looks like him." We walked to our gate, and I called Rose to let her know. I told her how bad I wanted to go up and at least ask but didn't want to feel or look stupid. She told me just to take a picture and not to ask. However, being the completely goofy guy I am, I couldn't resist the urge to tempt my fate. I coaxed my friends into going back with me and grabbed this guy that I thought was Gerry Dee while he was waiting for his food for he and his wife and baby. I'm so glad I went with my gut. Here's the result:

It totally was Gerry Dee from "The Last Comic Standing". I didn't have much time to talk to him since our flight was about to board and I didn't want to interrupt his lunch with his family so I told him how funny I thought he was and enjoyed him on the show hoping he would win and went on my way. Just goes to show you some of the interesting people you miss out on if you don't follow your gut and go out of your comfort zone at times to try and meet new people.

Wow honey - that's really cool that you got to meet Gerry Dee. But I think my favorite part of the WHOLE picture is that you are standing in front of a Starbucks!! Love and miss you much and can't wait for you to come home!!! - Rose =0)

Is that really Billy D?
Kenny G?
Master P?

Yeah, it was a pretty cool experience. Despite not ever hearing of Dickie V., I'm glad you got to meet some celebrity you thought was funny and interesting. My only regret is that I also didn't get a picture with Frankie V. Tim, I'm sure, would've liked to have his picture taken with Buddy Lee, too. Oh well, maybe next time. The whole trip was fun - let's not forget the reason for going though, the marriage of our friends Mike and Jess (here's to a wonderful new life together - hope you enjoyed your "gifts"); but of course, seeing Billy Dee was icing on the cake! -Hoss

Chris,

I got an email from you with this blog as a link. I came to it. Why would you link to something you haven't updated in nearly a year.

Hi Chris. Do you remember how to look at your blog? That is the first step. Now all you have to do is post on your blog. I know you can do it. Its just like when we were in D.C. Remember that? We went to the McDonald's parking lot at midnight cause it was the only time we could do it. Here is the link: http://dcgo.blogspot.com/ Maybe if you look at that blog for a while it will bring back memories. If not, I'll remind you what to do.
