Day 11 - The Why

Read 1 Peter 3:8-16

Today as I was teaching the Sr. High PhillyGO team, we discussed something that I thought was great for any age and wanted to share.

"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander."

In order to not send mixed messages to our friends about where we stand with Christ, we should always be prepared to share with others the reason for the hope that we have in Christ. When someone asks us "Why do you go to church?", "Why do you pray before your meal?", "Why don't you act mean?", etc. that is an amazing opportunity for us to be an example to them and share "WHY"!!!

Let me ask this question for you to think about. When is the last time someone asked you "WHY?"?

If it's been a while maybe that's something we need to look at. Have we been acting too much like everyone else that we don't stand out, that we don't look any different as a Christian from the rest of the world?

Take this week as a challenge to live as much for Christ as you can in every aspect and setting of your week. See if people ask you the WHY question. Maybe your friends are waiting for someone to be a true example of what a follower of Christ is supposed to look like.

What do you think? Share your thoughts and post a comment.

the last time i was asked why i followed god i had the answer because i have great youth pasters and small group leaders that try really hard to get the point across

I have been stuggling with God, asking him this one question, WHY did he send a certain person into my life (sry not gonna say the name) i found out why at church this moring. God sent this Anonymous person into my life due to me being an example. the person isnt a very strong person, and at first i thought he was "the one for me" but i was wrong, but "he is the one i get to preach to through my actions" so if the person asked me WHY i will think about this lesson, and answer godly, even if i get teased after it!
