Day 23 - Listen then Do

Read James 1:22-25

How many times have you read something in the Bible and thought to yourself, "Maybe I should start doing that"? Maybe you go to school or go to bed after reading it and that thought never crosses your mind again. Maybe as you read that same thing in the Bible you began to think about how hard it might be to do that or maybe you'd have to give something up to achieve that goal.

I think we can get caught up in that game too much if we're not careful. I know I can think of times myself when that has been the case. We may not be perfect at listening to what God says and then doing it all the time. I think the thing we need to think about though is how many times have we listen but not done anything. Has it been a long time for you?

Have you been running from something that God has asked you to do?

Have you been putting it on hold until an easier opportunity came along?

God desires us to look intently at what He has asked of us and to try with all our hear to accomplish those things. He asks each of us to do different things based on how He has gifted us.

So how have you been using those gifts for Him?

How have you been at listening and obeying Him?

What could you/do you need to be doing better in that area of listening and doing as He asks of you?

One thing I have really been struggling with is hearing the voice of God in my heart & knowing what He wants from me. I read my Bible & have my one-on-one time with God, but I just feel like I have no idea what He wants from me.
I have been trying to use the gifts He has blessed me with by bringing Him honor in the sports I play, & just in everything I do, but sometimes I just get stuck & don't know how to do it.
I feel like God has been telling me to quiet the voices in my heart & life and to just be quiet myself & listen to Him instead of always being the one doing the talking, but like I said before, I don't always know how to do that.
