Last night was a pretty awesome night here at NMC. We've started a series on Sunday mornings called Pray LaRGe or Pray LRG. We want to take time to pray locally, regionally and globally. Pastor Dave has had some people share about prayer and what it means to them but also about the power of prayer.
This past Sunday Pastor Dave had a special guest from India, Satyendra Basumata, who isn't a pastor but works for the telephone company I believe. However, in India we see a different type of Christianity. It's all or nothing there . . . and when I say that I mean you either are or you aren't. There's no half way. As a matter of fact, Pastor Dave showed some intense images of people who's homes have been burnt to the ground, they've been burned or even a gruesome picture of a child who was burned to death and left for dead. They are truly being persecuted to the point of death for their faith. How much do we need to learn as Christians today in America from people that do that?
So last night we spent time praying locally and from 5-7:30 pm the doors of NMC were open as we had an open house of prayer. Derry Prenkert spent tons of time getting things in place for the night so that people could pray specifically for the many ministries that go on inside and outside of these walls. People prayed in the rooms where ministries take place and even in our individual offices. Can I say that it was touching and moving to know that so many people are praying for you. I don't believe this series will be the end of our praying large at NMC, I think this is the beginning of a significant church-wide prayer movement. I'm praying that God helps us at NMC to get radical in the way we live as Christians . . . to the point of our friends being persecuted in India. And I pray it doesn't just stay at NMC but to churches nationwide. We desperately need the moving of our Father, His son and the Holy Spirit.
